On April 27th, Encana representatives donated $25,000 to the Friends of Fox Creek Hospital Society (FoFCHS). The money donated goes towards a new ECG machine and cart, a new fridge and freezer for the lab.
An ECG is an Electric Cardiogram, which is the piece of equipment that first diagnoses if a heart attack has occurred, or is occurring. This is a vital, critical piece of equipment.
In 2014, Encana donated $20,000 which went towards two otoscopes and ophthalmoscope units, as well as three vital sign monitors and a pedicaft infant crib, with mattress.
“Encana’s contribution provides funding for some of the equipment required by medical staff to continue to provide exceptional health care,” says Tyson Pylypiw, Senior Manager Central Operations, Encana. “Hospital volunteers and staff are an essential part of the community, and we thank them for their hard work and dedication.”
The Fox Creek Hospital, which opened in 1982, has received many donations over the years which has helped to care for those who come through their doors. In 2014, the FoFCHS received $120,740 in donations which went towards the purchase of 29 different items.
Some the many things that the FoFCHS does, includes running the Bargain Alley (Thrift Store) in Fox Creek, does an annual quilt raffle, presents the welcome gift to the New Year’s Baby, acts as hostess for the flu clinics, supplies cable TV to patients at the hospital, and much more.
The purpose of the FoFCHS is for the organization to give assistance to the Fox Creek Hospital by any way or means, provided that their actions meet with the approval of the hospital administrator. The FoFCHS tries to establish good relations between hospital administrators and the public.
The FoFCHS is always looking for new volunteers, offering fun and fellowship.
