Last year, Rival Trucking and ProFoxx Energy played their inaugural charity softball game. Rival won the game with a walk off home run in the bottom of the 9th. Final score was 15-14 for Rival.
Rival chose the Fox Creek Playschool to donate $1000.00 to ($500 from each company). Part of the bet last year was that the losers had to wear dresses for the next competition; so Daryl Cuthill and Vern (being VERY good sports) did indeed wear dresses all night Tuesday, August 23.
The staff from the two competing companies were supposed to play their 2nd annual soft ball game on the same day, but because of the rain they decided to move it indoors to the ProFoxx shop.
The companies played in teams of three and each traveled around the shop to different competitions. Each activity was supervised by neutral score keepers. Games included ping pong, beersbie, washers, baby rattle and bean bag toss.
At the end of it all, they were all tied up at 116 points. The tie breaker was a round of beersbie; Daryl and Vern vs Chase and Brett Lamb. ProFoxx lost the match. ProFoxx then challenged Rival to a double or nothing tug of war, which they accepted and ProFoxx won!
Together they chose the Fox Creek fire department this year for all the hard work they put in to the wildfire this past spring, along with all of the hard work the volunteers put in for our community with responding to accidents or incidents, basically whatever they are required to do at a moment’s notice.
Before the competition started, a BBQ was held, where Rival supplied the food and ProFoxx supplied the beverages. They had approximately 60 people total, some played on teams, others cheered the companies on, and some were the kids of our workers who were there cheering on their parents and playing games and balloons and splashing in the mud puddles. All in all it was a great time.
Both companies would like to thank Hokey (Allan Sudds) for once again working the BBQ. He comes to every company event hosted and everyone loves seeing him and he’s an awesome cook.
Next year, weather permitting, they will do their 3rd annual charity event at the ball diamonds, which they plan to open a home run derby to the public to raise more money for our ProFoxx Loyalty Fund (to help ProFoxx employees and their families in times of need), and as well for Rival’s internal charity of choice. Of course the $1000.00 community charity donation will also be made to the winner’s charity of choice.Print This Post
