Town of Fox Creek Supports the Fox Creek for the Children’s Fundraising Society
The financial goal for Fox Creek for the Children’s Fundraising Society (FCFCFS) and a new playground for grades 4-6 is getting closer, after support from the Town of Fox Creek at the June 27th town council meeting.
Town Councillor Brenda Burridge motioned to support the FCFCFS for the amount of $70, 000 from community enhancement reserves and all were in favor.
The society has successfully raised over $50,000 in various fundraising ways to date.
Town Councillor Chris Conlin said, “Good job fundraising, great strides.”
The FCFCFS plan to apply for a Community Facility Enhancements Program Grant for the maximum amount of $120,000 by the end of August, 2016 for a total amount of $240, 000.

On the last day of school, Society Chairperson Gord Ashmore spoke at the school assembly and announced that by next school year, a playground will be started for the children in grades 4-6.
“We are not just raising money for a playground; we are here to support all town programs related to children; for example the current playground repairs and the skateboard park. Our priority is youths; we have a three phase project, 1. Playground, 2. Tamarac at the school and 3. Upgrade the track,” said Gord at the town council meeting.
The FCFCFS continues to fundraise.
For Canada Day, the society served the community dinner, thanks to many sponsors, they raised $835. Earlier in the afternoon, six brave souls; Brandon Ahn, Ronald Pangan, Sarah DeCiccio, Paul Marinus, Tamara Czinkota and Richard Rozario, took their seat on the dunk tank to help the society raise $509.
Also the Fox Creek School’s Parent Council supported the society with a $5000 donation the end of June.
In addition, an online fundraiser continues, where you can purchase gift cards and a portion of the purchase goes towards the society. Check out Fund Scrip for more information here: https://www.fundscrip.com/support-a-group/SZNDDA.
“Thank you to everyone for your support!” Gord Ashmore, on behalf of the FCFCFS.
