Mind over Matter

| June 11, 2016

Mind over Matter focuses on Shining Stars in our Community. The third recipient was Ronaldo Pangan, second from the left. He was interviewed by Sandra Hardy (left), CHAMP Coordinator, Jennifer Becker, Director of Community Services and Brandi Camilleri, Fox in Focus (right) on June 10th.

Mind over Matter is a new feature, focusing on resilient community members, known as “a shining light in our community” and includes a brief interview; photo and a personalized appreciation gift for the recipient.

It is a new collaboration between the Fox Creek Community Resource Centre, The CHAMP (Community Helpers and Mentoring Programs) Team and Fox in Focus.

The third recipient was Ronaldo Pangan.

He was interviewed by Jennifer Becker, Director of Community Services, Sandra Hardy, CHAMP Coordinator and Brandi Camilleri, journalist from Fox in Focus on June 10th.

This is such a heartwarming project and Ronaldo was pleasantly surprised when we paid him a visit at his work at Freson Bros. wearing our new Mind over Matter t-shirts.

Ronaldo was asked three questions; 1) How he stays positive in difficult situations? 2) How does he encourage others to face life’s challenges? and 3) What does he do for self-care?

  1. Staying + in Difficult Situations

You must have a sense of humor, positive attitude and laughter + his wife Gina by his side.

  2. Words of Encouragement

“Be a good example to all of your colleagues and especially inside the house. You a role model to others.”

Self Care

3. Write down your dreams and keep going, even when times seems tough.

“I have a lot of dreams, write them down and #1, is my family. I always need to be energetic, even when I don’t feel good.” – Ronaldo.

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters, compared to what lies within us.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Ronald has always been a guy with a great sense of humor, leadership and focus. But despite of his funny character he always know what he wants and his priorities in life. His accomplishments are no surprise to me. Continue to shine “Tukayo” I wish you more blessings and success.
