In the New Year, Beth and Tom Gislason opened their doors in their new location, (next to the Rexall Drugstore) and moved only two doors down from their previous location in the downtown Commercial Court in Fox Creek.

On February 23rd, they held a grand re-opening.

Gislason offered discounted prices on many items, served coffee and cookies, showcased their new items for sale and acquired space, including two new teaching classrooms.IMG_8829IMG_8831

The store is filled with work wear, including but not limited to: fire resistant zippered sweaters, coveralls, footwear, gloves, rain suits, socks, shirts and long underwear.

The store carries many brand names, including Wolverine and Helly Hansen.

“Hopefully we are one step closer to being a one stop shop, we are not just work wear,” said Tom. “We are not going to start selling wedding dresses,” he added jokingly, “but we offer ladies footwear.”

The new location also offers two spacious classrooms for teaching safety weekly courses. Tom takes his knowledge on the road throughout the year, traveling in the northern region, with his teaching contract at Northern Lake College.

Tom has been teaching safety training for 21 years and for five years, his wife, Beth and him have owned and operated the local safety supply store.

In 2015, Get Safe! Training Services & Safety Supply Store won the Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year award and also won Business of the Year in 2010.

As a business owner, Tom said he faces “many challenges and feels the effects of the down turn in the oil and gas industry, companies cutting back and downsizing.” However, he is excited about his business expansion, continues to offer weekly classes and optimistically plans for the future.

Get Safe! Training Services is a group of companies working together out of Fox Creek to provide training and safety supplies for the oil and gas, forestry and trucking industries of northern Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. For over 20 years, Get Safe! Training Services has been supplying certified health and safety training to facilities throughout western Canada.

From first aid to defensive driving for light duty vehicles, you can rest easy knowing your employees are prepared to keep themselves, the general public and your investments safe while working. They offer safety and first aid courses for the general public, and as long as at least one person is interested in the training, they never cancel a class.

On top of that, all of our courses have competitive prices and the training will be value for your money in the long run.

The companies also offer hazard assessments and drug and alcohol testing, both instant tests and lab-based testing – we are collection agents for most of the drug companies in Canada.

After the hazard assessments are completed, our training courses can help your company improve in aspects relevant to your scores. (Source:
