Safety Reminder * Our Fire Department uses Green Flashing Lights

Yield to the Green Flashing Light

The other day I was responding to a medical incident in our community. I was running a flashing green light, which is used by volunteer firefighters, to let people know they are in route to a emergency. We have had the green light program in the Town of Fox Creek for almost 10 years now.

It is part of our bylaw and approved by council.

At three different intersections I had to stop and wait for multiple vehicles to clear before proceeding eating up precious time.

The light does not give us the right to break the rules of the road it is just to let you know that we are trying to get to an emergency and asking you to yield the right of way at intersections or pull over to let us by.

It could be your home or loved one we are responding to. Help us, Help you!

Thank you for your consideration,

Fox Creek Fire Department, Fire Chief Les Paul
