Alberta Winter Games – Building Dreams

Defenseman, Nathan Scobey and Goalie, Grace Lutz are heading to the Alberta Winter Games this weekend, Feb. 13th and participating from Sunday, Feb. 14th until Tuesday, Feb. 16th. We wish them and their teams the Best of Luck!

Building Dreams

This weekend is here! The Alberta Winter Games in Medicine Hat, Alberta starts Saturday, Feb. 13th with opening ceremonies and games for two local players begin Sunday morning and continue until Tuesday, Feb, 16th.

Both 12 years old, defenseman Nathan Scobey and goalie, Grace Lutz are super excited for the opportunity to play and represent their teams in Zone 8.

Nathan is among five other defenseman on the Male’s Hockey team and Grace is one of two goalies on the Woman’s hockey team. The two youths are among 2700 athletes and coaches at the Alberta Winter Games!

Their families will be cheering them on in the stands and their community is fully supporting them from afar. We are anticipating updates from their games and will keep you posted!

Their teams will compete tournament style.

 

Nathan’s game are:

  • 8:00 am, Sunday, Feb. 14th
  • 3:00 pm, Sunday, Feb. 14th
  • 11:00 am, Monday, Feb. 15th
  • Final games TBA on Tuesday, Feb. 16th

You can watch the opening ceremonies, held Saturday night, live. Global will do a webcast of the Opening Ceremonies starting at 7:30pm on February 13 from the Calalta Center in Medicine Hat. Go to www.globaltelevision to watch.

  • More than 40 Alberta athletes who have participated in the Alberta Games have gone on to represent Canada at the Olympic Games, including Alberta Games spokesperson Gilmore Junio, 3 Time Olympian Kurt Browning; Olympic Gold Medalist Chandra Crawford, Jennifer Heil; Kaillie Humphries and 10 time Paralympic Gold Medallist Brian McKeever.

 

* Interesting to note, former Fox Creek youth Kylie Foisy, 14 years old, is also playing at the Alberta Winter Games, representing Zone 5 and playing center. In the past, local young lady, Kennedy Davidson also played in the Alberta Winter Games.
