What’s happening at the library these days?
We are happy to say that we now have a charging station for most phones and devices that you may use while you browse our shelves or stop to read. You may wish to view our latest art exhibit, entitled “…out to Alberta” which features a variety of artists, styles and media.
From photography, silver gelatin on paper, oil and acrylic, ink and water colour, and even linocut you will find an interesting blend of images from Alberta, our home sweet home. This exhibit will be featured in the library until Dec. 7 so there is plenty of time to come in and enjoy it.
Annual General Meeting
Every year the library board, which is a town initiated board, holds its’ Annual General Meeting in November. This meeting, which will see the election of officers and other appointments would normally be held on the third Tuesday of November but this year it has been postponed for a week, until Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7 pm in the Town Administration building in the Board Room.
The public is welcome to all library board meetings but to be on the board you must make application to the town in a letter. Anyone who might be interested in seeing how this board runs is welcome to attend. We are currently looking for new members. If you think the library might be your thing, please come on out to this meeting and check it out.
Christmas Craft Workshop, Mitten Tree & Holiday Hours
Our Children’s Christmas Craft Workshop for children from Grade 2 – Grade 5 will be held on Saturday, November 21 from 1:00 to 3:30 pm. There will be all kinds of neat projects, including decorating gingerbread cookies. Preregistration is required, we have forms at the library. We can only accept 30 children, so the sooner you register the better. This is an enjoyable time and we ask for parental help if possible in order for the children to make everything that is available.
We will again be setting up a Mitten Tree in the library to collect new winter hats, mitts, gloves and scarves that will be put with the Lions’ Club Christmas Hampers. All sizes will be appreciated. Please bring these in before Dec. 16 and have your name entered to win one of our door prizes.
The library will be closed over the Christmas break from Dec 21 to Jan 4, so you may want to come in prior to that and stock up on books to read over the holidays.
