A friendship that started in junior high, kept two men connected throughout their adult lives and formed a successful business partnership.

ProFoxx Energy Services Ltd. is a relatively new company to Fox Creek and area, locally owned and operated. ProFoxx was formed in the summer of 2010 and opened ProFoxx Rentals in the Spring of 2014. Most recently, they have formed ProFoxx Asset Retirement Management, based in Calgary, to help producers manage their assets once they have reached their end of life.

Both President Daryl Cuthill and Vice President, Karl Hummel come from oilfield compliance, welding and engineering background.

Friends since junior high and business partners, L: Daryl Cuthill and Karl Hummel, then and now.

Daryl and Karl worked together at a Cuthill family ran business; Lionhead Engineering and Consulting. In late 2007, Lionhead joined forces with CCS (now known as Tervita) and built a large yard and new shop in Fox Creek (currently owned by Trilogy Energy).

The business entrepreneurs found working with a large company just wasn’t a good fit for them and that the personal aspect that made Lionhead so successful was lost in the corporate giant.

“We felt we needed to get back to our entrepreneurial roots and stick with what we know – welding, maintenance, regulatory compliance and build a professional, people first company,” said Daryl.

Therefore, in 2010 ProFoxx Energy Services Ltd. was born with one picker truck, a limited amount of tools and equipment, in a small, older rented Quonset.

ProFoxx has now grown from the two founders to approximately 55 full time employees. They have built a new office, a 6000 sq/ft CWB and ABSA certified fabrication facility that hosts a five ton overhead crane and most recently a new small tools and equipment rental shop.

Daryl said “There is no one thing that makes us successful, it is a team effort of making sure the little things are done right. We work safe, we’re professional and we treat people with dignity and respect.”

Their safety record proudly boasts 250,000 hours without lost time incident and growing.

As do most companies in Fox Creek, ProFoxx faces the shortage of housing and shortage of a skilled workforce, both are their biggest challenges.

“We have the work to attract skilled people to our company, unfortunately there is no place for them or their family to live once they get here.”said Daryl.

ProFoxx believes in giving back to the community and being a good corporate citizen.  ProFoxx takes pride in supporting groups and things within the community that are important to our people.

Some of the recent activities they have been involved in have been Minor Hockey, Marnevic Memorial playground, the new 3-Boys arena locker installation, school welding program, fabrication and design of our Volunteer Firefighters training center.

The company is located in Fox Creek’s industrial area, on 2.5 acre yard at 205 1st Street, contact 780-622-5015 or 780-622-7462. Find their page on Facebook: ProFoxx Energy Services Ltd. and their website:
