Chamber of Commerce 2014 new board:
At the Jan. 28th Chamber of Commerce meeting, there was friendly faces that remain the same, a few changes and new additions.
- President Cathy Wiltse, she was former Vice President, elected by acclamation.
- New Vice President, Brandon Pauling, he was a former Director, elected by acclamation.
- Remaining the same on the board is: Secretary, Hilary Morris, Treasurer, Yvonne Jones and Director Alison Sharpe.
- New Directors: Brandi Bedson, Jean-Pierre Burque, Kristy Tuts and Past President Diane Ahn.
Diane Ahn stepped down as President at the Jan. 28th meeting. She said, “It’s been exciting, fun, sometimes stressful, and all in all great! Thank-you.”
Cathy Wiltse said she “is excited for the new year and looking forward” to her new position.
Executive Director, Mylene English explained the Canada Day grant was applied for, a letter sent to the Town of Fox Creek for Visitor Information Centre (VIC) funding, year-end done and gst is done.
Mylene and a VIC staff are booked for the Alberta Information Providers (AVIP) Spring Training and Showcase in Edmonton, May 6 and 7.
Chamber of Commerce Membership, as of Dec. 31 is 59.
The office is still waiting on a few payments to be made to finalize the profit from the 2013 Festival of Trees.
Cathy motioned to donated $500 to Santa’s Anonymous from the Festival of Trees. Yvonne seconded, all were in favor.
Brandon brought forward a quote for the installation and purchase of a security system at the VIC. Alison motioned to purchase three security cameras and dvr, including installation costs for the maximum cost of $1250. Hilary second. All were in favor. Brandon will follow through with the provider.
Alison motioned to donate t-shirts to the Family Day Festivities and Mylene will inquire if anything specific was needed, then come back to the board for an email vote, as the next meeting will be after the festivities. Brandon seconded, all were in favor.
In the past, the Chamber helped cover the cost of the meal; however Freson Bros. began donating the meal last year.
Brandon motioned to accept Grande Prairie Smoky Constituency, MLA MacDonald as the newest Fox Creek Chamber of Commerce member. Yvonne seconded, all were in favor.
Two businesses are in the process of being removed from the Chamber of Commerce highway signs, as they no longer have offices in town. There are currently 21 businesses on a waiting list.
The next Chamber of Commerce meeting is Feb. 25 at 6:30 pm in the council chambers. Everyone is welcome to attend.Print This Post
