Rules of the Road

| September 16, 2013
Cruising the back roads to the lake, on route to work duties or a Sunday afternoon drive, the road commonly known as the North Road leading northwest of town was a place of traffic safety reminders last week.

Trilogy Energy and Road Safety was the title of over 450 pamphlets personally hand delivered by Trilogy staff to drivers of the road on Wed. Sept. 11.

“Your Safety is Trilogy’s number one priority” and they want to make sure you get safely to your destination and home again.

George Ferguson, Corporate Compliance Supervisor, Johny Cooke, Trilogy Energy Field Foreman, Dan Sifeldeen, E.A.H.S Advisor and Dustin Kopp, Environmental Specialist were the crew conducting the safety checks.

It was the first time a safety blitz of its kind was held by Trilogy Energy in our area and perhaps more will be done in the future, explained Johny Cooke.

He said, according to Alberta Traffic Safety, just last Monday, 580 vehicles traveled the North Road from 7 am – 4 pm.

Trilogy Energy is responsible for the care and maintenance of the North Road.

“We give them a little pep talk and remind them of the rules of the road. Driving is a huge part of what we do in a day and (the North Road) is one of the most dangerous and busiest roads in oil-path,” said Johny.

Fox Creek RCMP Constable Justin Baxter was present in the morning to assist the guys, which stayed from 8:30 am to 5 pm.

The guys simply introduce themselves, making notes on where motorists are going and talked to a lot of fellas, gathering many good comments.

In the future an appreciation barbeque will be hosted by Trilogy Energy.

The pamphlet stated: Be aware, be courteous and be safe.

Just a reminder: you are travelling on a Trilogy Energy operated road and as such, we would like to remind you of a few safety related rules that we have put in place:

Remember to always wear your seatbelt, drive with caution and slow down where road conditions are poor, use a LADD radio where recommended, adhere to speed limits and be courteous.

3Boys donated the porta-potties and watered down the road for the duration of the day.  Also, Kelly Stimson of Scott Safety brought refreshments and participated in the distribution of the road safety day pamphlets.
