McNabb Team wins Oilman’s Golf

| July 24, 2013
It was reminiscing of old friends, new friends, socializing and great rounds of golf.

There was no rain for a sweet change, for the traditional Oilman’s tournament at the Silver Birch Golf Club’s Texas Scramble tournament.

29 teams attended the 38th annual Oilman’s golf tournament on July 19 and 20.

Golfers from Grande Prairie, Edmonton, Cold Lake, Whitecourt, Edson, Hinton, Fox Creek and surrounding areas attended the tournament, hosted by the Fox Creek Petroleum Association (FCPA).

The annual event was organized by Brian Korotash, Rick George, Lorne MacKinnon and Len Pierrard.

There were last minute cancellations and work commitments, however everyone reported a great time.

New this year, there was a horse race; a two man team elimination by score per hole. The winners were Jeff Foran and Ryan Lang.

One of the organizers, Len said, “Thanks everyone for supporting us, tournaments do not happen without their support. We hope to see everyone out next year.”

He extended his appreciation to all of the wet hole sponsors; Entrec, Kodiak Oilfield Services, Oasis Liquor Store, and Total Oilfield Services, Ernie O’s for the medic cart, Stephen Burridge for cooking steaks, Lonkar for the tent rentals, all of the golfers for attending, the volunteers on the course and Mother Nature for blue skies and sunshine.
