Basketball, volleyball and table tennis were among the fun events at Filipino’s first sports festival.

The event was attended by more than 250 people from Whitecourt, Slave Lake, Valleyview and Fox Creek at the Fox Creek School on July 6th.

It was a great opportunity for Filipino families in northern Alberta to gather to celebrate their culture and engage in sport activities.

Organized by Ronald Pangan, he said “people are showing their interest to help and saying that they are going to help and support me again next year.”

There was also face painting and raffle draw in which the prizes were donated from Jody Davidson, the Community Resource Centre, the Rector family and grand prize of new big barbecue grill from Brandon Pauling, Freson IGA.

Slave Lake’s team was the champion in basketball, Valleyview in male volleyball and Fox Creek in female volleyball.
