The Dec. 4 Chamber of Commerce meeting saw a change in President and board members, the announcement of the finances from the first Festival of Trees and initial events planned already underway for the next year.
Past President, Rene Fournier explained at first he really didn’t know what Festival of Trees was all about and what it meant.
He said, “It went pretty great. At first, I listened to you ladies and Googled (about Festival of Trees). Google has totally changed my life. I was totally impressed.”
“It was a great family night, the community is always there. The community never quits, it just goes and goes and goes – like an energizer bunny!”
He continued to say, “Being involved in the Chamber for the past three years, I’ve made many good friends and seen big changes.
We got a good thing going, I am very proud to be a part of it; learned lots, it’s been fun and I’ve enjoyed myself.” – Past President, Rene Fournier.
The new President for the 2013 term, nominated by Cathy Wiltse and in by acclamation is Diane Ahn. The new Vice President is Cathy Wiltse. Cathy gave up her Treasurer position. Secretary Hilary Morris will remain the same. Yvonne Jones was nominated, and accepted the Treasurer position.
Director, Marcel Beloin stepped down. Alison Sharpe and Brenda Burridge remain as Directors; new is Brandon Pauling, Hailey Spiess and Bogusha Pomerenke.
Fox Creek’s Chamber of Commerce has 56 members.
Office Administrator, Mylene English reported 21 trees and 9 wreaths were at the first Festival of Trees, and despite expenses not finalized yet, an estimated $8000 was total profit. The amount donated to the Friends of Fox Creek Hospital Society, from the proceeds from the Christmas event, is yet to be decided upon the board once all expenses are calculated.
The Chamber discussed the possibility of becoming involved in the menu planning as part of their sponsorship activity, for Family Day in February, hosted by the Community Resource Center (CRC). Freson IGA Manager Brandon Pauling stepped up to partner with the CRC to cover the cost of the meal.
