The summer camps, running from noon to 4 pm, are being held at the arena lobby, surrounding parks and field trips to the lakes. An average of 10 kids per week have registered and there is always room for more, a maximum of 15.
This week, week four of six, is themed ‘Nature Nuts’. Kids are discovering and decorating rocks, exploring the woods and creating crafts, with Youth Coordinators Lara Petch and Brooke Peterson.
Camps started the beginning of July on a Treasure Island theme, setting sail with the summer fun and discovering the life of pirates. Kids searched for buried treasures, sang pirate songs and even walked the plank.
During Arts and Crafts week, the kids developed monster characters, learning about maps and the layout of the town by going out for a walk and the kids taking photos. Kids also enjoyed different art experiences from tie dying to decorating cookies.
Movie auditions were held for their characters development and movement games; all of it building up to a special project on Fox Creek’s 45th Birthday on July 19. (see the video below submitted by Community Resource Center’s Youth Summer Coordinator Oksana Atwood.)
Reality Races was another themed week, where kids played ‘Minute to Win It,’ ‘Fear Factor’ and ‘Survivor Reality’ games and challenges.
Upcoming is All Star Sports, Aug. 13–16 and Mad Scientists, Aug. 20–23.
Are your kids bored? A fun-filled summer is just a registration form away at the Community Resource Center or Town Office.
