There were nine local teams and visiting teams from Whitecourt, Edmonton, Manning and Valleyview.
Teams started playing games Friday night, June 1 in four divisions and finals concluded Sunday afternoon.
There was the smell of old leather ball gloves, sweat, the sounds of shouts and hollers from the stands and great games of ball played under sunny skies. The weather was a nice treat from playing in the past years of mud, snow and rain.
“It was a great success and a great time. A big thanks to everyone who volunteered and the spectators who came out to watch the games,” said president of the Slo-pitch Association, Dallas Iampen.
The Slo-pitch Association is aiming to grow the tournament, ultimately hosting a 24 team tournament. The diamonds will also be getting a major work over later this summer.
Final tournament standings:
1st – Liquor Beavers (Whitecourt)
2nd – Buddha’s (Whitecourt)
1st – Outlaws (Fox Creek)
2nd – Young Guns (Fox Creek)
1st – Chargers (Whitecourt)
2nd – Burns (Manning)
1st – Shake n Bake (Fox Creek)
2nd – My Team (Valleyview)
Local teams continue to play league games, rain or shine, Monday and Thursday nights until the end of June.
