At the Alberta Chambers of Commerce 74th Provincial Conference and Policy Session, Fox Creek Chamber of Commerce was presented with the Chamber of the Year award in its membership category.
Tab Pollock, Alberta Chambers of Commerce Chair, presented the 2011 Chamber of the Year award to Fox Creek’s Chamber of Commerce President Rene Fournier and Executive Director Mylene English at the ACC Provincial Conference and Policy Session on May, 26 in Sherwood Park.
“I was surprised. It caught me off guard. It means a lot and is very nice. We are a very active Chamber, always have something on the go. Mylene does a great job and we have a great board to work with,” said President for the past two years, Rene Fournier. “Thank-you to the ACC for the honour, and to our community for its continued support.”
Fox Creek competed against other chambers in the province of the same size, participating in similar activities. Submissions were evaluated by a team of judges, categories of advocacy (participation in policy committee and process), membership (including retention and growth), submission presentation, self-evaluation statement (included membership, board activities, annual events, community involvement, and so on).
A congratulatory message from Pamela Brace, Regional Marketing Manager, Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan, read in part, “Your Chamber has demonstrated what the endeavours of staff and volunteers can accomplish through cooperation and a unified vision. It must be very rewarding to be acknowledged for your Chamber’s dedication to your business community and participation in the Chamber federation.”
