Soccer, baseball and floor hockey have been offered to kids aged 5 – 14. Following a great turnout to an interest night, practices and games have started up.
Floor hockey is taking place at the school gym with kids being divided into three age groups. Mondays host the 5-7 and 8-10 year old’s with Wednesday hosting the 11-14 year old’s. With protective eye wear in place, stick in hand and determination, the kids sweat it out to pass the ball and score a goal.
Soccer is set up at the track field. Two age groups take to the field Tuesday and Thursday evenings, sporting their colored shirts donated by Freson Bros. IGA. Coaches are working with the kids, practicing to keep the ball from going out of bounds and not allowing the ball to be hit out of the air with their hands.
Baseball has the 8-10 year old’s meeting at the main diamond and the 5-7 year old’s taking Kinsmen 1 and Kinsmen 2. This is the first time playing baseball for many of the kids from both age groups. Positions were shown and learned, while some were able to hit the ball for the first time.
Registration is still open to anyone wanting to enroll their child in these programs. The more interest shown in these sports the more successful they will be. The cost is $10 per child per sport and parents must sign a waiver form prior to their child participating. Volunteers are always welcome. Play hard, have fun, be safe!
