Coach Steve Dinel said, “The games were incredible, all players showed pride and I’m really proud of them.”
The first game, the Flames were defeated by a number of points, however came back to narrowly lose the second game in over-time and re-bounded to win their third game.
“It felt like a movie,” said the first year coach, regarding the winning shot made by Jesse Bedson with only 12 seconds left on the clock. “We could not have ended on a better note.”
Coach Dinel’s main focus was re-building a practice year, coaching the kids the basics and to enjoy the sport.
“Instead of teaching them plays, I was teaching them how to play,” he explained.
At the beginning of the season, the Flames were losing but improved each practice and each game. There were two winning games in the season for the boys and the girls were defeated in all their games and the tournament.
“Our biggest achievement; working on their confidence and having fun,” said Coach Dinel.
The Junior Girls “improved leaps and bounds and had a pretty good year,” said first year coach Alison Marple.
The girls came together as a team throughout the season and the last few games were their highest scoring games, she explained.
“We didn’t see the wins but you could see the heart in a lot of them,” said Coach Marple.Print This Post
